Omega Seamaster 300

Omega Seamaster 300 166.0324 c1965 Serial No. No date.

First thing first, unfortunately this isn’t a true vintage NOS survivor. It’s from the stables of Australian Omega wizards Watchco. For those that aren’t familiar with their work, they create these watches from genuine NOS & new Omega parts and genuine NOS Omega movements.

You’ll have to forgive me, as I don’t know the finer details of the rich history of this model, so I won’t attempt to. There are plenty of superb Omega enthusiast sites out there with every detail artfully researched.

This one has case number 22,615,XXX, which puts it at 1965. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong! The case reference is 166.0324. It is fitted with a true NOS Omega Caliber 550 movement, which (as I understand it) was manufactured for the US market.

It sits on a Ref.1171/1/633 bracelet, which really looks great. I have tried it on an aftermarket sharkmesh, this looks great too – in fact, this watch looks the business on pretty much any strap!

A big thank you goes to the fellas over at Watchco.

Halios Bluering

Halios Bluering. Brushed No. 73/100. 300m. ETA 2824-2 (Special request black bezel)

What appealed to me about this watch was the vintage look. Halios, a ‘micro-brewery’ watch company based in Canada & Hong Kong handled the retro look perfectly, with that big, almost Heuer Autavia style case & domed sapphire crystal. Which is a marvel, the blue tint anti reflective coating gives the dial an even greater appeal, with a beautiful range of blue depending on the light conditons.

The Bluering was available in three dial colours, black, blue & silver. The blue dial also had a dark blue bezel insert, but I preferred the look of the black inserts on the other models. Halios founder, Jason, fulfilled my request to have a black bezel insert on a blue dial.

Each dial colour was limited to 100 pieces, this one being 73/100. It is the brushed case version, with blasted crown and bezel. It’s powered by a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement. Beautifully presented in a Pelican case, ‘isofrane’ rubber strap & chunky metal bracelet, Halios did themselves proud, and all 300 sold out rapidly.

Specs.. Lug strap width 22mm, Lug to Lug (north to south) 51mm, Thickness 14.5mm, Diameter 44.5mm, 300m WR.
