Heuer 972.008 Ladies Diver / 2000 Series

Heuer Diver 972.008 2000 series (Ladies) 1984-5

This is another late Heuer from the hard to find 2000 series, this time the very small ladies version, with it’s impeccable 28mm case. I’ve said it before about these tiny ladies divers, they are really fascinating. I’m used to looking at the larger cased models, day in day out, so it’s a genuine privilege when I get one of these in my hands, I’m always taken by the compactness of them. They really are beautiful little objects in themselves, even if I’m obviously never going to wear them.

As mention in my post about the Heuer 2000 mans diver (973.006), these divers are hard to come by (even more so the ladies versions, as they probably sold in even lower numbers) as they are from the ‘twilight zone’ period of late Heuer/early TAG Heuer. Because of this they are much easier to date. This model is listed in the 1984 catalogue and was available until 1985 due to the TAG takeover. Just as I wrote about the mens 2000 diver –  these are incredibly scarce and even Google-ing this model will most likely (at time of writing) come up blank. Even trawling the Heuer catalogues on OTD will yield only a reference in the indexes/prices lists..

It is listed in the index of the 1984 Heuer catalogue on OTD, and the same in the 1985 catalogue.
There is a shot of it below from my 1984 catalogue.

    • Paul, if it is a Heuer model, then it is moderately rare, but not rare as in hugely valuable. The good news is that as this model was also made as a TAG Heuer model, there is a good chance that TH will have spare parts. It can be costly getting parts from TH, as they may want to fully service the watch. My advice is to speak to your local Authourised Dealer.

      • Russell,
Valuation depends on many factors. Is it Tag Heuer or Heuer model. Does it have a full length bracelet, papers, box. Is the bead blasted finish still mint, etc etc.
These factors can make the valuation swing hugely, from £100 to £300.
